Summer Time!

Well, I meant to get this out a couple of weeks ago-however, personal things had to take precedence. I hope all of you have a great summer vacation!

School starts back on August 12th, I look forward to seeing some of my new sophomores in class again..to my former sophomores-enjoy junior year! I’m excited to meet the new incoming freshmen class as well.

It’s MARCHHH!

YES! Its March, almost Springtime. Perhaps we’ll be done with snow and sick days permeating our school week. We are back in the swing of things folks and ready to go on Monday!

This week, BOTH classes will be taking a chapter test on Thursday. Start studying your chapter now! We’ll review in BOTH classes on Wednesday. I have the powerpoints up and ready for those of you who missed any lecture days or want to make sure you got all the information down. Check out the website.

**On TUESDAY, the Juniors will be taking the ACT Test in our hallway. 1st-4th periods will be meeting in different locations. I’ll explain more on Monday, you will be downstairs in an English classroom with a substitute-I’m proctoring a group for the test. You will have work to do-for a grade-so don’t get all excited yet! :-) Keep in mind, if your locker is in our hallway you need to get all books for 1st-4th before you leave on Monday, if not you won’t have them!!**

Hmm…that’s about it. Its a testing week all around. See you tomorrow!

This week G.I. is gearing up for a chapter test on TUESDAY. We will review on Monday. Chapter 9 brings us more of financial information-personal finances to be exact.

World Civilizations-

We’ve learned about the Ind. Rev.-now we get into more inventions and how life change drastically due ot the IR..interesting stuff if you ask me.

Until Monday,

A brand new week..

I hope all of you are enjoying your weekend. We are gearing up for a full week of learning. Here is what’s planned so far…

Global Issues-

You will be working on and finishing up your candy bars-I’m looking to have our ‘feast’ and presentations on Thursday and Friday (feast day). Please make sure you put your all into the time I give you to work on your projects.

World Civ-

This week ends with a chapter test, we’ll review for it on Thursday. The first half of the week will find us working on open response questions and doing a reading from primary sources activity.

All classes will be going to the media center on Wednesday to do a computer based project due at the end of the class period. A nice change of scenery for everyone.

See you on Monday!

Ms A.

Global Issues getting sugared up!

This week Global Issues class started their candy bar project. This goes along with our Economics unit for learning about marketing, advertising and consumers. The students seem excited and ‘into’ the project-which they should be its fun!!

Parents-we’ll post some pictures of the final projects next week. We like to ‘show off’ amazing work and dedication that the students put into any classwork.

World Civ classes are deep into the Industrial Revolution. After watching a video today, we will go back to our notes/lecture before wrapping up the week with an in-class group activity comparing, contrasting, and discussing the cottage industry vs the assembly line (mass production). Which is better? Which is worse? We’ll find out…stay tuned!

-Ms A

Another week geared up!

Don’t know about you, but I’m happy to be back to work and doing something! No more snow!!

In Global Issues this week we are looking at goods and services-how they are distributed, marketed, advertised and how we the consumers can make the best choices. On Wednesday we get to start the Candy Bar Project YAY!!

World Civ-The Industrial Revolution was a big part of history. It help to bring employment, products, money, and power to countries. It also brought problems, as most things in history did! We’ll be discussing the affect that it had on home life and society, as well as mention the “utopia” town (or was it?)

Stay tuned!
